The Roots of Epic Brand

Epic Brand is based out of Manayunk, which is a town in the northwestern section of the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Manayunk has an epic nightlife full of restless young professionals and college students. The town's Main Street is full of restaurants, bars and specialty stores with stylish boutiques. Cobblestone streets, distinct architecture and hilly terrain are some of the towns most eclectic features.

Manayunk has a rich history dating back to 1686 with dated papers between William Penn and the Lenape Indians for the plot of land. The Lenape referred to the land as “Manaiung,” since it is located on the banks of the Schuylkill River. Ironically, “Manaiung” literally translates to “place to drink,” which was later adopted as the town’s name.

The style of the students from the six or so surrounding colleges and universities and young professionals has heavily influenced the brand as well as vice versa. The town, in general, is known for it’s textile and fashion history since Main Street was the home of a collection of textile mills along the Schuylkill River in the 1970’s. Many of the old textile mills have been converted into modern day industrial lofts, condos, bars and restaurants.

Philadelphia University, formerly known as the Philadelphia School of Textiles, is one of the closest universities, sitting right outside of Manayunk, and has one of the strongest set of fashion programs in the country. A Philadelphia University alumni founded Epic Brand with the help of fellow alumni and students. Epic Brand is not just your typical clothing brand, but a unique lifestyle with endless opportunities.
